Hi, I'm Xingting. Designer, researcher, and illustrator.
I'm a PhD candidate at the School of Design and Architecture,
Swinburne University of Technology (Melbourne).
My research focuses on participatory design with older adults
in residential aged care — exploring crafting, gardening, and outdoor
ecological discovery as pathways to wellbeing and connection.
🌿Researching how older adults engage with nature, technology, and creative practice in aged care settings.
🤖Curious about speculative design, design fiction, and how AI changes design pedagogy.
PhD in Design, Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia.
Supervised by Prof. Sonja Pedell, Prof. Leon Sterling & Dr. Diego Munoz Saez.
Supported by ARC full scholarship.

Illustration & Art
Alongside research, I maintain a drawing practice — hand-drawn maps, character design (人设), botanical and nature illustration, and editorial work. I also run mobile drawing lessons in Melbourne.
